Cast-Iron Cornbread Recipe

A decent cornbread recipe is always handy, and Miriam Hahn's cast-iron cornbread recipe is simple and tasty. Additionally, you likely have all these things in your fridge and pantry. 

Ingredient

– 1½ cups cornmeal – 1 cup all-purpose flour – ½ cup sugar – 4 teaspoons baking powder – ½ teaspoon salt – 2 cups buttermilk – 1 egg – 6 tablespoons butter, melted, divided

Direction

In the meanwhile, preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and put the cast-iron pan inside.

Flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt should all be mixed together in a big bowl.

Put the egg, buttermilk, and 3 tablespoons of butter in a medium-sized bowl.

 Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones and mix them together.

After removing the skillet from the oven, swirl the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter to cover the bottom.

Place batter in skillet and smooth with spatula.

Bake 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Serve cornbread after 15 minutes of cooling.
